This year's recipient of the Reverend Paul J. Foik Award for significant
contributions by library faculty has a long record of service
to the
university with achievements in the three categories of acquisitions,
service, and scholarship. She has been instrumental in building Notre
Dame's reputation as a major resource for scholars through her work in
acquisitions, drafting collection development proposals, and supporting
special faculty initiatives. As a subject librarian for French she has
assisted the department for many years, and her efficiency in obtaining
materials as well as her collaborative skills has been truly exceptional.
As Rare Book Librarian she has made presentations of the library resources
to students, faculty, and visitors. She is a scholar in her own right with
her research on 18th-century women publishers. Indicative of her reputation
is the fact that this individual received eight recommendations for this
nomination. Because of the valuable service she provides to faculty and
students, scholars, and the community, we honor Laura Fuderer.
