The Bread of Life
The
bread that is offered at Holy Mass is, therefore, a symbol of the faithful,
who, eager to share in the sacrifice of Christ, say with St. Ignatius of
Antioch: "I am the wheat of God , and I must be ground by the teeth
of the lions that I may become the pure bread of Christ."
Note: All of these symbols can be seen on the outside walls of the Hesburgh
Library.
