The Holy Mountain
Remote
and inaccessible, rising high above this earth into the skies in lonely
majesty, the mountains seem to be the natural thrones of the gods. The
ritual image of the Holy Mountain in our churches is the altar. It is
usually placed on an elevated platform.
Note: All of these symbols can be seen on the outside walls of the Hesburgh
Library.
