Acquisitions Resources and Discovery Services
Description
The ARDS Department is responsible for providing acquisitions of all library materials to support academic programs, including access to and support of all electronic resources.
Core responsibilities include management of all acquisitions activities, including licensing for library electronic products, ordering and receiving of library materials in all formats, paying all acquisition-related invoices; creating and maintenance of new tools and services for managing resources acquisitions, including CORAL (open source ERM system) and Datamart (Aleph reporting tool); creation and maintenance of Aleph and website records for e-resources and serials to ensue effective bibliographic organization and usability. ARDS identifies and develops access enhancements such as SFX, eJournal Locator and Metalib integration, along with infrastructure support such as persistent URL management for serial and electronic resources, remote access via ezproxy, and coordination of electronic resources management system. The department investigates best practices and enhancements to ensure a positive user experience.
ARDS manages extensive usage statistics and analysis to support collection decisions.
These core activities are carried out to meet the research needs of the library patron with an eye for collaborative work approaches and informed bibliographic, technical, service, and business practices.
