Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI)
Onsite Reciprocal Borrowing Program
This program allows all students, faculty, and staff from any participating library to borrow books at any other participating ALI library.
Instructions for Notre Dame Students, Faculty and Staff
- Bring your ND ID card to the circulation desk at Hesburgh or any of the branch libraries, M - F 9am-5pm.
- Fill out form
- You will be given an "ALI" card, which must be shown at the Indiana
Academic University or College library where you wish to borrow books.
REMEMBER: Your library privileges and loan periods are determined by the library you are visiting and may vary from those here at Notre Dame.
Instructions for Visitors from
a participating ALI Library:
- To obtain a borrower's card at Notre Dame, your first visit must be during regular business
hours ( M - F 9am - 5pm), and you must apply in person.
- You must present the "ALI" card you obtained from your home institution's library and
a picture ID.
- Fill out form
- You may check out three books on your initial visit.
- You will receive an email verifying that your application has been accepted, and your Notre Dame borrowing
card will be sent to you in the mail. It may not be picked up in person.
When planning further visits to ND check the University Libraries Website for building and service desk hours.
Privileges:
- Borrowing: 28 days
- Renewing: 2 renewals for faculty; none for all other
borrowers
- Limiting number of Books: May only have 10 books
checked out at any time.
- Recalling/Placing Holds on Notre Dame Materials: You
will not be
allowed
to recall or place holds on ND materials
- Borrowing Journals: Cannot borrow journals but may
read them in-house
- Using other Notre Dame services: You may not use
our ILL or Computer Cluster services
- Subject to Recall: All material you borrow from Notre
Dame is subject to recall.
