Study Space Options in the Hesburgh Library
Closed/Locked Individual Study Carrels
- available to doctoral candidates, working on dissertation, in Arts & Letters
- submit application to individual A&L Department
- keys issued at Hesburgh Circulation desk upon presentation of Departmental Carrel Certification letter and $10 non-refundable fee
- all library materials in carrels must be charged out
- carrels are checked for current periodical issues, reference items, and material not charged out. These materials will be removed and returned to their home location.
Open Study Carrels:
- available most floors on a first come, first served basis
- cannot be reserved
- do not leave personal or charged library materials unattended
Group Study Rooms:
- for two or more users
- available Lower Level and 2 nd floor lobby
- first come, first served
- cannot be reserved
- contact Security/Monitor if 2 nd floor study rooms are locked
- materials will be removed if left unattended
Graduate Student Study Room - individual open study carrels
- 10th floor, west/northwest corner
- available during regular library hours
- graduate students only
- present ND ID to library monitor at exit control, 1 st floor lobby, and sign for key
- return key when leaving building
Study Tables
- available on all floors
- first come, first served
- cannot be reserved
- library materials will be removed if left unattended for any length of time
Graduate Computer Cluster
- 11th floor, Room 1100
- available during regular library hours
- graduate students only
- request key at Graduate Student Union, Mezzanine, LaFortune Student Center, 574-631-6963
Lokmobiles ("desk on wheels")
- available to seniors and graduate students for a $3 rental fee
- request at Hesburgh Circulation
- library materials must be charged out
- lokmobiles are checked for current periodical issues, reference items, and material not charged out. These materials will be removed and returned to their home location.
