Catalog and Database Maintenance (CADM)
Catalog and Database Maintenance (CADM), one of two units that comprise the Documents Access & Database Management Department (DADM), is located in the west wing of Hesburgh Library's second floor called 208.
CADM's primary responsibility is to preserve the integrity of the online library catalog through post-cataloging routines. The work performed according to national standards can be divided broadly into two major areas: authority and holdings work.
- Authorities provide access to catalog records through author, subject, series, and uniform title headings.
- Holdings work includes added copies/volumes, transfers, withdrawals, and call number corrections.
- In addition, CADM corrects bibliographic and authority records.
