Description: Khipu are textile artifacts composed of cords of cotton, which were used for record keeping and sending messages by runner throughout the Inka empire of the Andean Region from ca. 1400-1532. The Khipu Database Project collects all known information about khipu into one centralized repository, and includes data in digital form.
