The Mathematics Library, "the mathematician's laboratory," has more than 45,000 monographs and access to more than 300 journals. There is a small collection of "medium rare" material, a very small audiovisual collection, and no microfilm collection. Materials are collected in all aspects of pure mathematics and some areas of applied mathematics. There are particularly strong collections in mathematical logic and topology, but limited collections in mathematical statistics and probability. The Mathematics Library does not collect computer science materials (see the Engineering Library). The library has an endowment in honor of Professor Emeritus Wilhelm Stoll and houses the working collection of Professor Marston Morse of the Institute for Advanced Studies.
