Call Numbers and Library of Congress Classification
Hesburgh Libraries primarily use the Library of Congress classification system to organize materials so that users can locate them by call number. LC classification is used by most academic and research libraries.
Library of Congress call numbers are a combination of letters, followed by numbers. The publication date is often the last element of the call number.
