SMART Board Operation

A SMART Board is an interactive touch-sensitive whiteboard. You can highlight points, access applications and Web sites all with the touch of your finger. You can also write notes using the electronic pens and save your work for future reference. This new tool is designed to assist you with the delivery of a dynamic presentation, help you conduct an effective meeting and provide more interaction with students in a classroom environment.

When preparing to use the SMART Board for a meeting, program, instructional session or other event, please do the following:

1. Log into the computer using the appropriate NET ID. If you are unsuccessful in your attempt to log in, check to make sure the CAPS LOCK is not on. If you are still unable to log in, reboot the computer or contact the IRIS Department DCC at 1-6640.
2. After you have successfully logged in, turn on the projector by pressing the "Proj On" button on the wall control panel.
3. Once you are logged in, the SMART Board will start automatically.

Troubleshooting Tips

After using a pen or the eraser, please make sure it is returned to the pen tray. A green light will stay on if a pen or eraser has not been properly stored in the tray.

• For optimal use of the SMART Board, please do not turn off or lower the lights.
• As you become familiar with the SMART Board, you may need to adjust how and where you stand so you do not block the view of your audience.
