The original manuscript contains an elementary Latin grammar, written by a German Humanist for the education of a young nobleman. There are numerous German glosses -- that is, explanatory notes -- throughout the text. The reproduced folios on display show diagrams of the hand, which was frequently used as a convenient mnemonic device during the Middle Ages -- in this case to help the student memorize his Latin declensions.
