This reproduction of one of the treasures in the
Bibliothèque Nationale conveys
some of the splendor of this manuscript which was a product of the court school of the
emperor Charles the Bald. The sacramentary contains the text of the prayers to be
said by the celebrant during every Mass, according to the "Roman usage" required by the
Carolingian liturgical reforms.
