1728 - Ireland divided into its Provinces & Counties, by Herman Moll (d.1732).

This collection is comprised of the David J. Butler Collection of Maps of Ireland and the Thomas C. and Helen G. McGrath Collection of Sea Charts of Ireland.

Included in the Butler Collection are over 80 early printed maps and over twenty photostats of maps from the Library of Congress. The original maps were printed from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. Complementing the maps is The Thomas C. and Helen G. McGrath Collection of Sea Charts of Ireland, which includes eleven charts also printed from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. Both collections were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McGrath.

On March 29, 1993, Mr. McGrath presented a talk at the University of Notre Dame titled "The Joy of the Chase," in which he recounts stories of his map purchases.
