Portuguese. Contains two separate documents; one description of an auto (ff. 1r-3r), the other a copy of a royal decree against the Marquis de Pombal (ff. 3v-5r). The second document only is dated 3 September, 1779 at the royal Palacio de Queluz, near Lisbon.

French. There are two copies of the same image, of varying quality, both hand-colored. Both depict a burning on the docks in Lisbon, before a large crowd, at the conclusion of a public auto-de-fe. Only one copy has French text, along with a manuscript note in Dutch; the other may be from a different printer.

Spanish. Case brought against Joseph López, of the Order of St. Francis, by Pedro Alexandro Texeda, agent of the Holy Office, for a sermon given by the accused in 1766. Contains the complaint and accusation of Pedro Alexandro, with his signature. Various other related signed letters and documents in several hands, including some by fr. Joseph López. The Franciscan was vigorously defended by his Order, and the accusor was relieved of his duties.

Spanish, Latin and Italian. Lengthy essay calling for an inquisitorial trial of disabled soldier Juan Rodríguez Bejarano, for bigamy. Several documents compiled in a single hand as a defense of inquisitorial jurisdiction in such matters; includes Latin and Italian citations of earlier cases, laws and scripture.

Joachim de Bocanegra, Anton.... "Senor: Con grave labor mio... San Luis de Potosí: 1774-1776. Inquisition 123

Spanish. Inquisitorial trial concerning alleged witchcraft, with resulting illness and possible possession, by a woman named "San Juana" and her daughter Viviana. Denunciations by Maria de los Santos Tobar and others; the accused do not seem to have been found or interrogated. Testimony describes rural society and beliefs in the region of Potosí (Mexico), including expert opinion of a doctor confirming likely use of sorcery. Case dismissed for lack of evidence in 1776.

Spanish. Denunciation of Fr. Josef, with testimony of colleagues concerning various improprieties at mass, as well as illicit use of chocolate, women and pornographic images. Single document with signatures Ramón Pérez and Isidorio Carranza as well as notary Francisco Uraga.
