The O'Grady Collections
Robert (ND '63) and Beverly O'Grady, through their generous financial assistance, support the collecting of rare books, documents, and manuscript materials that chronicle the rich history and literature of the Southern Cone countries of Latin America (Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay).
The history collection covers the events of the region from independence to the mid-Twentieth Century. Highlights include manuscripts by the South American liberator José de San Martín, Manuel Belgrano, and Juan Antonio Alvarez de Arenales. Also found are first editions of many of the most influential works published in the 19th century.
The literature collection includes first editions by the finest writers of the Twentieth Century, including Jorge Luis Borges, Mario Benedetti, and Silvina Ocampo. Numerous manuscripts by the region's writers also have been acquired.
The O'Gradys also fund the O'Grady Latin American Literature Lecture Series.
