Online Digital Reseves or Electronic Reserves is a password protected on-line system that allows students enrolled in a course to access their instructor's course readings from any computer with an internet connection.
Students, Faculty, TA's can locate electronic reserves from the University Libraries Home Page . The Library Services area contains a direct link to Electronic Reserves. Electronic reserves may also be located by pointing a web browser to this url: https://www.library.nd.edu/reserves/ereserves/search.cgi. On this page "Electronic Reserves" is highlighted in the "Category" column on the left and the list of courses for which electronic reserve materials are currently available is listed in the right-hand column.
When the user clicks on the "Electronic Reserves" link, they will be prompted for a user name (netID) and password. Once the user is logged on to the system, the drop down menu will display a list of all courses to which the user has access. Many of the readings are in .pdf format and can be read by using Acrobat Reader or an Acrobat Reader plug-in. If you are working from a Notre Dame Computer Cluster, you already have access to Acrobat Reader. If you are using your own personal computer, there is a good chance the Acrobat Reader was installed on your computer when you purchased it or was included with another software package. If you need to install the Acrobat Reader on your computer, it is available on the Adobe website to download free .
Some course readings may be links to full text journals or may be in formats other than .pdf (i.e. .txt, .wpd, .pp etc). The icon next to the reading will indicate the format.
E-mail the Reserve Book Room if you are having difficulty accessing a course for which you are enrolled or use the Problem-Solving/Feedback Form for Electronic Reserves.
Access to Electronic Reserve readings is limited to the instructor, teaching assistants, and students enrolled in the course for which the reading is being made available.
Student accounts are established for each electronic reserve course and are maintained independently of one another. User names for electronic reserves courses are based on the student's NET-ID and password. The password can be changed by going to this Office of Information Technology (OIT) site and completing the electronic form. Should you forget your password, contact the OIT help desk:
