Online Course Reserves

Online Reserves or Electronic Reserves is a password protected online system that allows students enrolled in a course to access their instructor's course readings from any computer with an internet connection.  Our staff will scan the required readings and upload them to an online course which we have created in our Open Source Course Reserve (OSCR) database.

  • Click here for an example of how an Online Reserve course will look.

Accessing Online Reserves :

Dot Students and TA’s can access Online Reserves from the University Libraries Home Page. A direct link to the Online Reserves is located under Library Services.  When the user clicks on the “Electronic Reserves” link, they will be prompted for a user name (netID) and password.  Once the User is logged on to the system a drop down menu will list all courses to which they have permission to access.  Double click on the course to gain access to the available readings.  Below is a complete form on accessing online reserves.

Dot Many of the readings are in .pdf format and can be ready by using Acrobat Reader or an Acrobat Reader plug-in.  There is a good chance you already have access to Acrobat Reader if you are using a Notre Dame Computer Cluster or on a personal computer.  If you need to install the Acrobat Reader on your computer, it is available on the Adobe website as a free download.

Dot Some course readings may be linked to the University Libraries FindText.  If so, the link will take you to a page that has the full citation of the article you need, and you may choose (if more then one) which database you will want to view the reading from.

Dot Please contact Course Reserves if you are having difficulty accessing or do not find a course for which you are enrolled.
