Course Reserves Guidelines for Students
Retrieving Reserve material:
Reserved books are listed in the Course Reserves OPAC. You will find your instructors reserve materials by searching under instructor, course number, course name, author, or title. All Reserve items are shelved by call number (exp. LB 3295 C65 1991) and your item can be retrieved more quickly if you are able to provide Reserve staff with the call number when requesting the material. We allow up to three items at a time for check out. Please return all reserve items to the book drop next to the Course Reserves window.
Check out time:
Generally most books have a two hour and overnight check out time. To use an item overnight you will need to come in 2 hours before we close (hours of operation). The item will then need to be returned the next day by 9 a.m., or 12 p.m. on the weekends. Not all books will be available for overnight checkout. This option is determined by instructor or Reserve staff. If an item you will be checking out is needed longer than the circulation period that was chosen, we need written permission from the instructor for extended due dates. Books my be renewed as long as the book you have checked out is not needed by another student at the time of return.
Fines:
The charge for overdue an item is .75 cents per hour for hourly loan times and $3 per day for items that have a 1 day loan or longer.
Accessing Online Reserves:
If your instructor is using Online Course Reserves (Electronic Reserves) then you will be able to view their required course readings online. Online Reserves can be accessed from the University Libraries Home Page. A direct link to Online Reserves is located under Library Services. When you click on the "Electronic Reserves" link, you will be prompted for a user name (netID) and password. Once you are logged on to the system a drop down menu will list all courses to which you have permission to access. Double click on the course to gain access to the available readings.
Your instructor might also have online reserves accessible through their Concourse page.
Many of the readings are in .pdf format and can be ready by using Acrobat Reader or an Acrobat Reader plug-in. If you need to install the Acrobat Reader on your computer, it is available on the Adobe website to download free.
Please contact Course Reserves if you are having difficulty accessing or do not find a course for which you are enrolled.
