Acceptable Use Policy

From indices and abstracts of the literature to full-text journals, from handbooks and periodical tables to patents and reaction databases, this is the place to begin. This web page contains links to resources for your search of the chemical literature. The Chemistry-Physics Library (231 Nieuwland Science Hall) contains recent chemical print resources not available electronically. Older print chemical resources can be found in the lower level of the Hesburgh Library. Contact the Chemistry Librarian for information about how to use these electronic resources and any print resource.

Access to these resources is governed by license agreements which restrict use to the Notre Dame community and to individuals who use the Notre Dame Libraries' facilities. It is the responsibility of each user to ensure that he or she uses these products only for individual, noncommercial use without systematically downloading, distributing, or retaining substantial portions of information. Acceptable use forbids downloading contents of entire issues of a given journal title. The use of software such as scripts, agents, or robots, is generally prohibited and may result in loss of access to these resources for the entire Notre Dame community.

  Indexes and abstracts international research in life sciences, covering agriculture, biochemistry, biomedicine, biotechnology, botany, ecology, microbiology, pharmacology, and zoology.

  Chemical information system comprising Beilstein Database, Gmelin Database, AutoNom, CrossFire search and retrieval server software, and Commander client. Allows search and display of chemical information by substances (structures and properties), reactions, or bibliographic citations. Beilstein database contains literature of organic chemistry from 1779 to date; Gmelin database contains that of inorganic and organometallic chemistry from 1817 to date. AutoNom (Automatic Nomenclature) generates IUPAC systematic nomenclature directly from structure diagrams of organic compounds.
