In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about fundamental programming concepts and the basics of R and BASH coding.
Programmatic data analysis is an important skill for a wide range of fields in both academia and industry. The R programming language and Unix/Linux command line can be powerful tools for analyzing data on their own. The large variety of R and command line tools can be used together with scripting to create custom pipelines to automate the analysis of large or complex data sets.
This workshop covers fundamental programming concepts, including program design and task automation. Participants will also have the opportunity to write and run R and BASH code using RStudio and the Unix/Linux command line.
The sessions in this 2-part series may be taken independently of each other.
No prior programming or data analysis experience is required.
There will be computers available with the necessary software. For those who wish to use their own laptop, please pre-install the following tools that will be used during the workshop:
