Honoring Black History Month, Greg Bond will share insights about the first Black Librarian at the University of Notre Dame.
Lois Dozier was the first African American Librarian—and probably the first African American member of the Academic Staff—when she worked as the Gifts and Exchange Librarian at Notre Dame from 1947 to 1956. Unfortunately, for many years, little else was known about her. Using newly discovered sources, this presentation explores Lois Dozier's life and seeks to better understand her career and experiences at Notre Dame and in South Bend.
