How to Make a Book

Monday, February 4, 2019

9:30 am – 10:20 am

247 Hesburgh Library, Navari Family Center for Digital Scholarship

Workshop Overview

This hands-on workshop will demonstrate how to bind books using three different techniques:

  1. using a machine to do coil binding
  2. using a machine to do adhesive binding
  3. the "slot & tab" method by using paper only, no tools

The first two techniques are useful when you want to bring together sets of printed documents such as articles, web pages, eBooks, etc. The "slot & tab" technique is useful for personal notebooks and when you need a book (of about any size) in a hurry.

Attend this workshop and learn how printing and making books is useful, even in an era of all things digital.

Open to all faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students.
