Shiny is a tool in R used to build and deploy interactive web apps. Shiny apps allow users (without background knowledge of R) to interact with data in a basic web browser. Consider learning Shiny to perform exploratory data analysis or create narratives from data.

Participants will:

  1. Understand the underlying architecture of Shiny apps
  2. Build and deploy a basic Shiny app
  3. Share/disseminate a Shiny App using the RStudio server

Prerequisites

  1. Attendees should have some familiarity with R and have experience installing packages.
  2. Attendees should bring a laptop with the latest versions of R, RStudio, and the Shiny package installed.
  3. This workshop is aimed at Shiny beginners: Those who have never created a Shiny app but want to learn more about the capabilities of Shiny.
