11:00am – noon

246 Hesburgh Library, Navari Family Center for Digital Scholarship

Overview

The Hesburgh Libraries at Notre Dame have one of the richest and most extensive Irish Studies collections in America. Irish Studies Librarian, Aedín Ní Bhróithe Clements, will offer three sessions focused on Irish Studies resources.

These sessions are open to undergraduate students (particularly those engaged in a capstone or thesis), graduate students, faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and visiting scholars. Participants can attend one, two, or all three sessions.

Session 1

This research session provides information and tips on primary sources such as newspapers, periodicals, pamphlets, and other important tools for research in Irish studies.

Participants will be introduced to:

  1. Primary digitized collections for Ireland including the Irish Newspaper Archive and many more resources.
  2. Sources of periodicals, pamphlets, reports and other primary sources that may be discovered and searched online.
  3. Special Collections — e.g. eighteenth-century newspapers, An Claidheamh Soluis, Irish-American periodicals.

After Session 1, please join us for a complimentary lunch, where registrants can become better acquainted with each other and learn more about the collection.

Registration is required. Please bring your laptop to this session.
