Please join us for an author talk from one of the editors of the recently published work, La sfera: Cosmology, Science, and Geography in the Fifteenth-Century Mediterranean. The volume is a new edition and English translation of a widely read late medieval cosmological treatise, accompanied by a commentary that highlights the text's transmission, reception, and historical contexts across the Mediterranean through digital humanities methods.
Presenter:
Caterina Agostini is a historian of science and digital humanist whose research spans Italian studies, early modern textual cultures, and computational approaches to manuscript studies. She is the co-editor of Goro Dati’s La Sfera (The Globe) (Italica Press, 2025) and serves as an NEH consultant at the University of California, San Francisco, an Ambassador for the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), and Associate Editor of Digital Medievalist.
