Learn how to make maps using ArcGIS Online and incorporate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) into your research.

This workshop will teach you the foundations of mapping in ESRI’s ArcGIS Online platform. ArcGIS Online is a browser-based GIS platform that allows users to create, visualize, and manipulate spatial data. Whether you are interested in working with larger datasets or creating maps to add to a class project or senior thesis, ArcGIS Online offers an excellent workspace for researchers who are beginning to work with GIS.

After participating in this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Create, gather, and display spatial data in ArcGIS Online
  2. Conduct basic queries in ArcGIS Online such as select by attribute or select by location

Prerequisites

  1. This workshop is designed for novice GIS users. If you indicate when registering that you do not have access to the campus GIS network, you will receive an invitation prior to the workshop.
  2. Please ensure your ArcGIS account is activated prior to the workshop.
  3. Please bring a laptop to the session.
