Learn how to create media-rich, interactive timelines using timeline.js.

Timeline.js is a free, easy-to-use web-based tool, that enables you to build visually rich, interactive timelines using nothing more than a Google spreadsheet. It can pull in media from a variety of sources, i.e., Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, etc., to enhance your storytelling.

Learning goals:

  1. Organizational practices for planning your timeline project
  2. Setting up a timeline in the tool in preparation for adding content
  3. Formatting and customization options
  4. Publishing your timeline

Prerequisites:

  1. This lesson assumes no prior knowledge of the skills or tools
  2. Please bring a laptop to the session (laptops are available for 3 hour loans on a first-come, first-served basis at the 1st Floor Circulation Desk.)
