The emergence of the modern information society and its increased emphasis on the collection, use, and storage of personal data has enabled the growth of surveillance and the loss of privacy. Do you know who is monitoring your internet use? Do you know how to protect your privacy?

Event Overview

Choose Privacy Week is an annual, week-long event that promotes the importance of individual privacy rights and celebrates libraries and librarians’ unique role in protecting privacy in the library and in society as a whole.

Stop by Hesburgh Library to learn about strategies and technologies that help you defend online privacy and minimize unwanted collection of personal data. Each day will feature a different topic.

Monday: Who is tracking you on the web?

Tuesday: How secure are your private conversations?

Wednesday: How strong are your passwords?
