Creative Sampling Techniques in Electronic Music

Join Assistant Professor David Bird for a hands-on workshop on creative sampling. Using digital audio workstations (DAWs), you’ll learn how to transform found audio into original musical material and explore techniques for chopping, processing, and recontextualizing sound. Participants are encouraged to use what they create for the Public Domain Day Music Contest!
Music Copyright and What it Means for You and Your Samples

Join Tiffany Gillaspy to learn about music-specific copyright issues, how music samples fit into the conversation, and how to find music in the Public Domain. Then, take what you learn to sample music from the Public Domain (both legal and free), and submit your composition to our Public Domain Day Music Contest!
