Workshop Overview

This hands-on workshop will give participants the knowledge, tools, and experience necessary to understand, use, and share containers, as implemented by the Docker Platform. As the world's leading software containerization platform, it is used to deliver and sell cloud computing services by every major cloud provider in the world, including Amazon Web Services and the Google Cloud Platform.

This journey into the cloud begins by learning the basic vocabulary of container computing while interacting with the tools used to manipulate them. There will be an opportunity to publish an image to the Docker Hub, allowing collaboration anywhere in the world. A simple orchestration using Docker Compose will round out our understanding of what the cloud is capable of.

Having a text editor, git and curl installed would be helpful, but a curious mind willing to learn what and how to install and use those tools is essential!

REQUIRED: Bring your own internet-capable computer running OS X, Windows 10, Linux, or Raspbian Jessie

PREFERRED: The git and curl commands installed (15 minutes before class, I can provide a mini-workshop for this)
