Event: Making Maps in R

Wednesday, October 14, 2026

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

249 Hesburgh Library (Navari Family Center for Digital Scholarship)

Learn to make maps in R.

This workshop will introduce participants to making static and interactive maps in R using the packages sf and tmap. Along the way, we will discuss the types of spatial data and the basics of spatial analysis and visualization.

This workshop is open to all, but it is recommended that participants have some basic knowledge of writing R code in the RStudio interface. One way to accomplish this is to attend one of the “R for Absolute Beginners” or “Visualizing Data in R with ggplot2” workshops offered regularly throughout the semester.

Open to Undergraduates, Graduate Students, Faculty, Staff, Postdocs
