Each year on January 1, a new batch of published works enters the public domain.
To celebrate the new works entering the public domain this year, the Hesburgh Libraries is accepting entries for the 2025 Public Domain Day Music contest. Individuals interested in participating must submit their musical project highlighting some of the new material available in the public domain by Sunday, February 14.
Using at least one pre -1925 sound recording and any other free or original music, individuals can submit their musical project that highlights new materials available in the public domain.
