The 2022 Rev. Paul J. Foik, C.S.C., Award recognizes the outstanding professional contributions of Mandy Havert.
The Foik Award is given annually to a library faculty member who has contributed significantly to library service to the Notre Dame community and the library profession through personal scholarship or involvement in professional associations.
The following citation was shared as a part of Mandy Havert’s nomination.
“This year’s recipient has been described as a tireless advocate, compassionate facilitator, devoted servant leader, and energetic problem-solver. As graduate outreach services librarian, she transformed the Dissertation Camp and Thesis Camp programs that connect students with scholarly resources, best practices, and care for the whole person. ‘She was unsurpassed in her devotion to providing a voice and necessary support programs for Notre Dame’s graduate and professional students,’ remarked one camp attendee. Through the Moreau College Initiative, she taught research skills to college students incarcerated at Westville Correctional Facility, meeting them where they were and discovering value in their ideas. One nominator commented, ‘She changed for the better the lives of these members of our society that we often overlook.’”
The Hesburgh Libraries community is pleased to see Mandy recognized for the significant contributions she made to the Libraries, the University of Notre Dame, and the library profession during her twenty-four-year career.
