Featured Resource: Taylor & Francis EBA (Evidence-Based Acquisitions)

Members of the University of Notre Dame Community now have access to more than 37,000 ebooks through the Taylor & Francis EBA (Evidence-Based Acquisitions).

The program provides access to nearly every e-book from Routledge, CRC Press, Focal Press and other Taylor & Francis imprints published between 2017 and 2023. Each book is DRM-free (Digital Rights Management), which allows an unlimited number of users to simultaneously access, download and print content.

“This EBA program is particularly exciting because of the important role that Routledge holds as a publisher in the humanities and social sciences,” Mark Robison, department head, Academic Collection Services, said. “Routledge is one of the most in-demand imprints on our campus.”

According to Robison, over the last several years, at the direct request of patrons, the Hesburgh Libraries has purchased hundreds of Routledge e-books. Since gaining access to Taylor & Francis EBA in August, the Libraries can now proactively provide access to all of the publisher's most recent titles.

“The biggest winner with this EBA program is our researchers,” Robison said. “They can discover tens of thousands of high-quality books, from a reputable academic publisher, and have instantaneous, unlimited access.”

The Taylor & Francis EBA program lasts for a 12-month period, after which the Libraries will likely renew for an additional 12 months. After the current 12-month period, Robison says they will leverage the usage data to make informed decisions about what the Libraries should purchase permanently.

“This eliminates access barriers for our researchers and provides data that will lead to more effective purchasing decisions,” Robison said. “It's a win-win.”

Researchers can easily discover and access the books using the Libraries’ catalog and One Search.
